What Are The First Signs Of Alcohol Abuse!

Unfortunately alcohol abuse is not one of those addictions that you can clearly tell someone has fallen victim too until things get really out of control. In fact one of the most important things to an alcoholic is their job since their job supplies the financial means to continue in their addiction. Even their personal relationship will fall victim to someone that is addicted to alcohol.

We have all heard of closet alcoholics and many professionals fall right into that category. They are able to hide their alcohol addiction so very well. Although they may have trouble with their attendance they are almost always able to have a good reason for their absenteeism. They come up with excuses for having blood shot eyes or being less productive. Of course by this time the person is over their head and they no longer have control over choosing when they will drink, but now it becomes a matter of putting off all other priorities in order to drink.

Of course the final huge sign that someone has an alcohol addiction is their personal life falls apart, they begin to show up to work with alcohol in their system from drinking too much the night before, or even more serious than ever they actually begin sneaking drinks at work. They may try to hide those drinks by drinking vodka which many say will not show up on their breath. Unfortunately they are wrong since all alcohol has a distinct smell.

Once a person loses their job all the wheels have come off the wagon. They become very desperate since now they have lost their ability to buy what they are addicted to. They begin to search out friends that they haven’t been in contact with for a while hoping they can fool them and ask for hand outs, or maybe even a place to live depending on what happened after they lost their job. Unfortunately at some point they will run out of friends and then a new reality will set in. At this point in their lives we hope that they will finally recognize they have a drinking problem and seek out help.
